PRINTS

The raison d'être of Waking Dreams Photography is to display and promote my work in this, the digital age of abundance. With the industry now oversaturated, in large part due to the prevalence of affordable DSLRs and the Internet, it has made the pursuit of a profitable career path in photography much more difficult and, in many cases, fraught with various economical struggles.

I fully acknowledge that I'm part of this oversaturation and I'm currently on a quest to find my place in the creative world. However, it is not my objective to try and make a living from any of this but simply to occupy my own little online space and continue taking photos and sharing them with other people.

Just like with my experience entrenched in the music scene for a number of years, I have long been of the opinion that in any field of creative endeavour, conspicuous success happens only to a tiny minority. The cold fact is we can't all have our wishes come true.

Nevertheless, this harsh truth doesn't have to be considered grave news when a little perspective is applied. I for one am grateful that I can afford to even own something like a DSLR camera, whereas thousands, if not millions, of people will be going to bed tonight hungry. In this world, there are far worse things than the plight of struggling photographers and other creative types who feel hard done by the fact that the tools of production have been democratised and everyone can now get involved.

Personally, I find some of the complaints geared towards amateurs, be they photographer, artist or musician, to be contradictory in nature because the complaints often come from other amateurs with a competitive streak and a sense of entitlement. When you think about it, these complainers are actually giving out about people just like them.

As for me, I make prints primarily for myself, relatives and friends. That said; I am more than happy to accommodate anyone should they wish to acquire a high-resolution image for their own private use.

In my humble opinion, the best way to view and appreciate photographs will always be in print form. While digital photos can look lovely on a computer monitor, as either a screen saver or desktop background, it is not until they are printed to a reasonable size that their full richness, detail and impact can truly be experienced.

All of the photographs featured on Waking Dreams Photography, save for a tiny handful of personal shots, have a tag number (i.e., WDP075). To obtain a high-resolution image, simply send an email to the following address along with the individual tag number.

All I ask in return is that you adhere to the following terms and conditions:

Attribution - If you decide to use the image for anything other than a print for personal use, such as posting it on a blog or website, you must attribute the work and give credit where credit is due.

Non-Commercial - You may not use the image for commercial purposes of any kind.

Share Alike - If you alter, transform or build upon the image, you may only distribute the resulting work under the same terms and conditions as listed here.

You should also be aware that these terms and conditions in no way affect my moral rights, which allows me to object to any “derogatory treatment” of my work. “Derogatory treatment” is typically defined as “distortion or mutilation” of the work, or treatment that is “prejudicial to the honour, or reputation of the original creator.”

For example, remixing any part of my images with audio/video samples of racist material, animal cruelty, or propaganda, etc., would be deemed “derogatory treatment” of the work.

Lastly, I would also ask that you consider making a small donation to a charity organisation of your choosing, in exchange for being able to acquire these high-resolution images free of charge.
If you have any further queries, do not hesitate to email me for clarification. Thank you.
